Beautiful Boucle

Posted in bears, hand made | No Comments »

I finished a custom order milk chocolate boucle bear today with vanilla velvet paws. She turned out so nicely! “Willow” is 14 inches tall, a fill-up-your-arms size, and perfectly huggable.

I’m getting ready to finish her twin sister today or tomorrow, and then they’ll have matching dresses.

Willow has that irresistible forever-friend look already. I hope our customer loves her as much as I do. :)

Hi I’m Rabbity!

Posted in Bears About the House, bunnies, hand made | No Comments »

We’ve been so busy here on the Moor, but we love busy! I’m a new bunny here on the Moor named “Rabbity”. Since I’m pretty new I get to play and have fun pretty much all the time.  Since my schedule is pretty free at the moment, they asked me to do a guest posting today.

I’ll tell you a bit about myself. I was  adopted by a little girl who lives here. I heard she had something wonderful called a birthday, and I was her gift! Now she and I go everywhere.

I’m a very happy Rabbity.

I like to sit with the family at dinnertime and talk to my little friend from the safety and comfort of the island in the kitchen :)

I’m made of wool with cotton patchwork in my ears and on my paws. I also have a bit of oatmeal felted wool on my muzzle. Other Rabbity’s like me might be made of other materials but I just know they’ll be cute like me. I’m wobble jointed and my knees and elbows have a bit of a bend in them. That makes it easy for me to sit and pose in some pretty cute ways. Ok, enough of the boring stuff. :)

I make myself available for any and all computer related questions anybear might have. I feel I’m rather versed on the subject of comptuers after having a long sit on the big bed for quite a few evenings as I was being completed. I listened very carefully…..

You might want to have a Rabbity around your house. We Rabbities are very helpful. I’m not sure what this brush is for, but Dad said he’d be right back to show me how to use it….

The other night I  got to help make a tasty snack of raised orange glazed donuts (I was excited when I saw they were orange thinking they were carrot flavored, but they weren’t. Hey. Nothing’s perfect right? And they were still tasty.)

Well, I better get going. I have some errands to run (If I can get this thing to start…hey, where are the pedals?)

Look for more Rabbity’s like me to hop onto the Moor soon!

Etta Bearhardt

Meet Etta! She’s a beautiful pink cable knit bear with suede accents. She was commissioned by a customer for a family member’s birthday. Our customer picked out the material and sent it to us to use to make this very special bear. This is the first time we’ve done this and we just loved the personal touch it added!

Etta is floppy, huggy, pretty and sweet. We hope she has many happy days with her new friend.

Hedgehog Toys on the Moor!

a hedgie in the pantry

We have some exciting new projects we just finished that we are so eager to share with you!

We’ve been wanting to make an extra special hedgehog toy for children and finally developed a pattern with a pocket so the hedgehog can roll into a ball!

Waldorf Hedgie Prototypeball

We made this set of hedgies out of the softest wool/angora blend we could find, and felted the “quills” for texture variation.

Not only is this hedgie a fun toy to roll into a ball, he is fun to toss too! He is just 8 inches tall, but he’s about 10 inches around-simply adorable and huggy, weighted just a little to make him feel slightly heavy, real feeling, and irresistible to hold.

Benny Bear is looking for a Friend!

Posted in bears, hand made | No Comments »

benny

Benny Bear ate all his peanut butter waffles (with syrup also please) and dashed out to the swing set this morning to have some fun. He loves adventure, sweet treats, and most of all- hugs! But hold him tight when he rides the swings with you-he’s a little afraid of heights!

 benny2

Benny is a super soft, incredibly huggable waldorf style black bear cub. He’s 9 inches tall sitting, 12 ½ inches tall from head to toe. He’s made from repurposed (gently cared for here on the Moor) charcoal colored wool sweater material. It has just a touch of angora, just enough to make him irresistible to cuddle! Benny’s paw and ear linings and muzzle are made of equally soft and loveable chocolate brown cotton knit.

Benny is stuffed with soft, lofty, premium quality hypoallergenic polyester fiberfill so he can be washed in the washer ( tie him in a pillow case, wash in cool water, short wash, fluff to dry). He also has a few double washed pebbles deep within his tummy stuffing to make him pleasingly heavy and “real” feeling.

 benny4

Benny’s sweet face is hand stitched with black cotton floss and much love. He’s completely child friendly, and ready to be the best friend to even the littlest one.

benny5

Benny also has a cute little cranberry colored flannel heart hand stitched on his tummy to add even more to his folk art charm.

Benny would make a lovely, unique, handmade gift for someone you love, or make him the newest friend for your little one!

Benny is individually made like all the sweet bear friends here on the Moor, and will come with a card dated and signed by the Artist.

Meet Chickory Thistledown! He’s sweet and soft, and the very first Cotter Pin Collectible for sale here on the Craggy Moor!
Chickory is named after the beautiful delicate blue flowers blooming on the Moor right now. He’s 10 1/2 inches tall from head to toe, with about 4 inch ears. He’s made of soft and loveable blue cotton velvet and vintage inspired blue cotton plaid to line his ears and paws.
 chickory-thistledown5
Our old fashioned cotter pin joints are made of sturdy 1/8 inch thick wood disks, steel cotter pins, and zinc washers.

chickory-thistledown3

They make his arms and legs swing and flop slightly, just like those much loved stuffed animals you might find in Grandma’s old cedar chest.
 chickory-thistledown4
Chickory has a sweet little hand stitched black cotton nose and smile. His eyes are lovely jet shell beads with subtle ribbons of black, blue and smokey grey.

Chickory’s stuffed with the Craggy Moor’s favorite stuffing: 100% brand new wool batting, a touch of dry lavender, and a few steel bb’s deep within his tummy and feet to make him slightly heavy, and pleasingly “real” feeling.
 chickory-thistledown
Chickory would make an extra special, all natural, collectible gift for someone you know, or add him to your own collection!

Chickory Thistledown is individually made and comes with his own card dated and signed by the Artist.

Keep watching for Chickory’s sister Primrose, coming soon!

Handmade is the very best way to say “I love you”!

Collectible Button Jointed Cashmere Wool blend bunny

A very shy and thoughtful bunny is looking for someone to love her.

Meet Victoria Scamperfoot! She’s an adorable little 8 inch button jointed bunny with real old fashioned appeal.

Collectible Button Jointed Cashmere Wool blend bunny
Victoria is made of our pretty and soft caramel cashmere/wool blend repurposed material (gently cleaned and cared for). She has whimsically striped cotton knit ear linings, and plum colored corduroy paw pads.

Victoria’s joints are accented with natural, unfinished, smooth wood buttons that add even more to her irresistable “yesterday” appearance.

New Sweater Bear Design

Posted in bears, hand made | No Comments »

galvin-and-barnaby

We are really happy with the new sweater bear design we’ve developed here recently! We happened upon some really nice velvet, as well as a storehouse of lovely sweater materials, and these lovely fabrics really inspired us to try and make something extra cute.

So we had a “Teddy Bear Picnic”!! lol!

bartley-bearhardtb

Our first new design sweater bear was ”Bartley Bearhardt”. He’s made of a wonderfully soft black angora sweater material. He was adopted by the wonderful nuns at a Convent in Massachusetts. (They’ve also given many of our Waldorf softies a good home there too-thank you so much!!!)

barnaby-barnes6

The next bear to come along was Barnaby Barnes. He went right away to a good home in Alaska (bears love Alaska!).

galvin

Galvin is travelling to his faraway Amsterdam home! (more to come about him on a later post!)

alfie-bearington52

Alfie Bearington travelled to live in Collegeville Pa.

abel-cubbersley

His little cousin Abel went to live in Nebraska.

polly-pendleton6

Polly Pendleton went over the ocean to live in Nottingham England.

We are so happy that all our sweater bears quickly found good homes!  A big Thank you to everyone who adopted them!

bear-in-progress2

There are more sweet bears in the works along with more lambs and bunnies too! Check back often!
