Spring Lambs on the Moor!

Posted in hand made, sheep | No Comments »

Come on into the pasture and take a peek at our new lambs!

Eunie2

First up is Eunie!

Eunie3

Eunie’s made of cotton fleece and coordinating cotton rib knit.(I love this cotton fleece! It’s hard to find, and we only see it once in a while). She has a bit of pink cotton flannel in her ears. She’s soft, cuddly and floppy. She’s also 5 way jointed and lots of fun to pose and take on adventures. We make our own hardwood and steel wobble joint assemblies so they’ll be strong and sturdy.

Eunie

And this cute little guy is Lewin!

Lewin

Lewin is a cotton shaker cable lamb with soft, coordinating cafe au lait cotton knit accents. He has a bit of pink flannel in his ears too. Lewin is also 5 way jointed and is the first to have our brand new Craggy Moor hardwood tag! On the reverse it has his name, date he was made, and artist signature. Both his cute metal bell and his tag are removeable keepsakes.

Come on over to find out more about these sweet lambs and maybe adopt one today! They are looking for a good home.

Meet My Brother Alby!

Happy

Hi I’m Happy! I’m the first of a newly designed flock of lambs born here on the Moor this spring.

Mama had a lamb once upon a time, when she was a child, and ever since, there’s been a great love for lambs here on the Moor.

She’s been working on a design that’s reminiscent of that legendary lamb but with a huggy, loveable style all our own.

I’m the firstborn of the new design!

You know what? It’s hard to find natural materials that are “lamb-ish”. When Mama found this buttercream cotton fleece, everyone was so excited!

  It’s perfect!

After a bit of measuring and cutting I was born!

Happy Lamb1

I decided to live here on the Craggy Moor. I love the big green, quilted pastures, and the children! Oh, the many hugs I get! Sigh…

But enough about me!

Today my little brother Alby was born!

(scoot closer to the camera Alby….there that’s better.)

Isn’t he sweet?? He’s already been adopted and he’s going to live in PA with a sweet girl named Mackenna. Soon you’ll get lots of hugs too Alby!

There are exciting plans for more lambs here on the Moor this spring too! We have a sister Eunie who’s almost old enough to be adopted, so come back and visit the Moor soon to meet her. After that our fleece will be discontinued, but more lambs with wool fleece are on the way!

Happy Lamb on Lydia's Blankey

Thanks for visiting our pasture today! I’m tired after all this talking.

I think Alby and I are gonna curl up and take a nap

Aberly Suffolk3

I just finished Aberly Suffolk and I’m waiting to hear back from a customer. I just wanted to give you a peek at him too.

Aberly has all my favorite things in a lamby friend:

Aberly Suffolk2

Soft velvet, and sweet floral patchwork

Aberly Suffolk4

Beautiful hardwood button joints, and friendly loving face.

He’s everything a soul could want in a loving lamby friend. :)

This cute little Sooty lamb is the first of a line of new lambs to be born soon here on the Moor! I posted pics of Sooty on flickr to see how folks liked her.

Our friend Cat over at The Raggy Rat ... contacted me and just loved Sooty. I asked Sooty if she’d like to go live with Cat in far away U.K. and she said that sounded like a wonderful adventure!

I’ve loved Cat’s Raggy’s for a long time. Her sweeties were some of the first I visited when we  started our flickr account. I just love her little standing Ratties! They are full of personality, sweet and absolutely adorable. Cat has pet rats, and I can tell how much she loves them by the care and tenderness she puts into the expression of each little one she makes.

So….when Cat asked about a trade, I said “YES!!” right away! I love natural colors, and she made one grey, and one brown.

Reginald and Gregory Raggy Rat

Here they are! Cat took a pic of Gregory and Reginald Raggy Rat. They are making the long trek across the water to us this week. We can’t wait to meet them in person. The children say Reggie looks like Remmie from Ratatouille so we also hope he loves to cook :)

So, we say a fond goodbye to Sooty, and get ready for Sooty’s sisters and brother lambs to be born soon. And we eagerly await our little box full of Greggie and Reggie!

More pics to come when they arrive and have a look around. :)

New Waldorf Baby Animals on the Moor!

Posted in bears, bunnies, hand made, sheep | No Comments »

   Baby Rita5 Baby Rupert5

We’ve had some new waldorf  lambs and bunnies “born” this week, as well as one waldorf bear named Patter.

Jeffey

We love Waldorf style friends because their sweet faces are uncomplicated and open, friendly, inspiring imaginative play. Simple sweet faces tend to “reflect” the emotion that the child is feeling.

Baby Rita2

We love when our little ones come to us with their little Waldorf friends (our daughters have waldorf bears). They’ll say “Waffles is hungry” or “Wooby was mad at Caleb because he made him wrestle”. Its so cute!

Patter

We now have 2 “Baapy” lambs on the Moor:

Jeffey5

Ewey and Jeffey!

We also have two waldorf bunnies:

Baby Rita3 Rupert Rabbit4

Baby Rita and Baby Rupert-patterned after our collectible cotterpin jointed pair.

Our baby bunnies and Baapys are made with soft, huggable cotton. Their stuffing is weighted to give them that just right, slightly heavy, “real” feeling when held and carried.

The Baapy lambs have floppy ears, and the bunnies and Patter have floppy ears and arms that are just right for early grasping.

Our waldorf baby animals might be just the right gift for a preemie! They would make a safe, and cheery addition to the isolette, and can be used to prop baby in different sleeping positions. Patterns and easy to see contrasting faces will encourage interest during waking hours.

Jeffey3

Baby Rupert2

We made them to be easy to care for. If any of our waldorf animal friends gets soiled, simply place in a pillow case, wash with mild soap on gentle cycle, and dry in low heat, or air dry. Fluff to reshape if needed. Minor soilings need only to be spot cleaned with a cloth and mild soap/damp cloth.

Stop by the Craggy Moor to learn more, and adopt one today!

Sootyfoot Cottonwool-a spunky autumn lamb

Posted in hand made, sheep | No Comments »

sootyfoot cottonwool

Nestled in her mama’s care, or skipping across the
Moor, Sootyfoot Cottonwool is a happy little lamb. She loves to nibble the delicate purple clover dotting the green grasses, and gently nuzzle her mama ewe when the cool autumn breezes blow. Still, that irresistible, old wood fence entices her. Someday she will try to jump it!

sootyfoot cottonwool5
Sootyfoot Cottonwool is 9 inches tall from head to hoof, 6 inches sitting. She’s made of creamy soft cotton repurposed sweater material with a wonderful, thick texture. Sootyfoot’s hooves, muzzle and ear linings are a beautiful, charcoal colored velvetty wool that contrasts her coat very nicely.
sootyfoot cottonwool3
Sootyfoot’s sweet face is handstitched with black cotton floss, and her eyes are pretty, shining navy jet beads.
sootyfoot cottonwool4
Sootyfoot is string tied and button jointed with folksy little handmade square wood buttons. They give a charming and whimsical touch to her sweet and classic features.

Her stuffing has a touch of dry lavender, and just enough steel bb’s deep within her tummy and feet to make her pleasingly heavy, and “real” feeling.
sootyfoot cottonwool2
Sootyfoot Cottonwool would make a charming gift for someone you love. She is individually made with much love from gently cared for repurposed and brand new materials. She will come with a card dated and signed by the artist too!

Sootyfoot is securely made, however, as with all toys, can dissasemble with rough play. Due to her small parts, we must tell you to use your discretion when purchasing for the very young (under age 3).

Handmade is the very best way to say I love you!
Thanks so much for visiting!

Time to get back to the sewing machine :)
