There’s a Hedgie on the Moor!

Posted in hand made, other animal friends | No Comments »

Bramble Thistlebatch

Bramble lived in the family pantry. His job was to stock and organize the shelves, sweep the floor, and sift the flours to keep them clean. He trundled along the floor pointing his nose into corners and crevices spying out choice buggy morsels. This was a great help and something he really enjoyed in the quiet watches of the night. As the sun came up he nodded sleepily as his family of people began their day, and grunted as the little girl lifted him into the warmth of her apron pocket. Here was his favorite place to take a nap…

Meet Bramble Thistlebatch, our very first button jointed hedgie! We just love hedgehogs, and we’ve been looking for a way to make a Craggy Hedgie for the Moor, and Bramble was born.

Bramble is 6 inches tall, 4 1/2 inches sitting. He’s made of heather grey wool, with wheat colored velvet paw pads.

Bramble Thistlebatch3

He’s button jointed with our favorite natural hardwood buttons. His eyes are beautiful navy cat’s eye stone beads with a lovely, subtle sky blue glint.

Bramble’s stuffing is weighted to give him that nice, slightly heavy feel we love in a huggable, loveable friend. He has a touch of dry lavender inside too, to make him smell like the sweet fields he loves to trundle through.

Bramble is wearing a little glasz colored plaid vest (glasz is that beautiful color of the sea in Brittany-a mingle of grey, green and slate blue)

And Bramble’s best feature is his beautiful set of loopy wool “spikes”! They are hand crocheted with beautiful chocolate brown fisherman’s wool, and securely handstitched.

Bramble is lovingly made, and one of a kind. Each Craggy Hedgie is unique and will have his or her own sweet look.

Bramble would make a wonderful gift for someone you love, adopt him and add a sweet handmade hedgie to your own home!

Etta Bearhardt

Meet Etta! She’s a beautiful pink cable knit bear with suede accents. She was commissioned by a customer for a family member’s birthday. Our customer picked out the material and sent it to us to use to make this very special bear. This is the first time we’ve done this and we just loved the personal touch it added!

Etta is floppy, huggy, pretty and sweet. We hope she has many happy days with her new friend.

Randall Rarebit

Randall hops lazily among the ferny fiddleheads as the dew settles gently on the grasses in the family garden, dampening his paws. He notices the sun rising slowly in the east-he must hurry back into the house and up the stairs and under the quilt before his best friend awakens and misses him!

Randall is a sweet little grey wool/cashmere blend hare with real old fashioned appeal. He’s 9 inches tall, 6 inches sitting. He is so soft, and has that sturdy, uncomplicated, best friend quality about him that we love in the best of stuffed friends. He has a cute little smile and comical oversized ears to add to his whimsical, folksy look.

 Randall Rarebit3

His ears are lined with plaid cotton that he also has on his paws. Its a homey, country inspired plaid with muted lines of cerulean, and mustard on a carolina blue background.

Randall’s firmly stuffed with brand new, premium quality high loft, hypoallergenic polyfil. He has a touch of dry lavender in his stuffing that gives him the scent of the late summer fields he loves so much. He also has a few steel bb’s deep within his tummy and feet to make him pleasingly heavy and “real” feeling.

Randall Rarebit2

His cute little face is accented with creamy cotton knit and handstitched with a lighter sea green that coordinates nicely with the plaid in his ears and on his paws. Randall has sweetly shining black glass bead eyes hand strung and three way tied.

Randall’s limbs are button jointed with lovely shell buttons, and string tied using 6 strand cotton floss.

Randall Rarebit4

Randall even has an adorable little handsewn cottontail made of cotton yarn!

Randall would make a unique and endearing gift for someone you love, or add him to your own warren of collectible hares! Randall Rarebit is individually made, like all the hares you’ll find here on the Moor, and he’ll come with a card dated and signed by the Artist.

Randall is securely made, but due to his small parts, please use your own discretion when buying for the very young.
