This is our new bear Jazzy! He’s a bear we just fell in love with
and he comes with a wonderful story.
Jazzy is a little 5 inch needlefelted wool teddy bear.
I’m so impressed by how each little detail is just so cute,
from his little round ears to his pot belly,
to his sweet little oversized paws, and handstitched
black cotton nose.
Jazzy was made by Katarzyna in Amsterdam

and she has the most wonderful bunny/bear store called
ForestblueFactory where she makes these adorable little creations.
You’ve got to check it out. She has bears of different colors,
with the same general style, as well as a sweet little bunny too.
Even though they are made the “same”, they each have their own
individual look. That’s something I just love about handmade bears, bunnies, etc.

What drew me to Katarzyna’s bears’ was their sweet faces,
the uncomplicated cuteness that’s totally irresistable,
and the creativity of them.
Katarzyna is such a nice person and I’ve really enjoyed
getting to know her.
(Isn’t it amazing that through the internet we get to meet folks
we’d otherwise never meet in life?
I love that aspect of the internet.)
It took about 3 weeks for our little bear to arrive and
he arrived safe and sound.
I didn’t calculate how far Amsterdam is from Ohio
but I’m curious how many miles each bear travelled.

Jazzy “popped” right out of his box, relieved to be
in the daylight
again after such a long journey lol!
He’s so photogenic I couldn’t help but have some
fun with him right away.

He jumped right in to help, and read the little ones a story

When the little girls fell asleep,
we went out to do some school at the dining room table.
Jazzy did all he could to help
Gideon and Rachel with their math

and helped Gideon with a crossword puzzle

The ruler was quite long so Jazzy decided to let them
do the measuring

Since he’d been on such a long journey, he was very hungry.
When I asked what his favorite food was,
honey was the obvious answer!

He overindulged and had a bit of a hangover the next day

I shared my coffee with him.
He assured me a bear of very small size only needs a sip

We sat back and watched the morning news for a while.
He insisted that I take a picture of him on the bedspread
because he felt he’d disappeared,
being almost the exact color of it!
When I showed him the shot he was a little disappointed
that he didn’t completely blend in,
but liked the picture nonetheless.

Being a bear with a large experience in travelling by box,
Jazzy gave a few words of wisdom to a warren of new
Waldorf bunnies getting ready to ship.

Jazzy offered to babysit while I prepared lunch,
but Lydia kept trying to grab him,
so he relinquished the job to a more able older sister.

Jazzy will have a good home with us,
and a place of honor in our bear collection!
Its so cool to have such a beautiful handmade bear
from so far away.

You might see the occasional shot of Jazzy on our flicker page
because he’s just so very cute.
I know I’ll think of more fun ways to photograph him.
