Meet Elise FairIsle!

The lovely patterns in Fair Isle knitting are so inspiring of folk stories that a sweet little bunny just had to be made from the beautiful cobalt blue piece we have here.

Elise is a sweet folk art inspired, old fashioned 11 inch tall hare with button jointed limbs. She’s made from a lovely cobalt blue imported fair isle wool sweater. A soft, creamy cotton contrasts her dark coloring so simply and sweetly.

elise-fairisle2b

Elise is stuffed firmly with our favorite stuffing: 100% brand new wool batting, a touch of dry lavender, and just enough dry, inert lentils to make her pleasingly heavy in the hand. She really makes you think of those “days gone by” toys, the type you hold onto, and find in Great Grandmother’s cedar chest.

Elise has a little grey handstitched nose made of cotton floss, and her eyes are lovely grey hematite beads.

elise-fairisle3b
We are very pleased to say that Elise is sporting the very first set of Craggy Moor handmade buttons! The little wooden hearts just add even more to her folk art appeal.

elise-fairisle4b

(Elise has small parts, so may not be suitable for children under the age of 3 to play with, and is not intended for rough play)

Elise would make a lovely gift for anyone who loves old fashioned storybook type friends or add her to your own special collection of treasures.

Its hard to resist the sweet cuteness of a lamb!

bellabaapyb

Meet Bella and Benny Baapy! They are adorable little lambies made of creamy, chamois cotton (repurposed, gently cleaned here on the Moor). Their  little faces are made of soft cotton velveteen in a coordinating latte brown color. They have a touch of  plaid cotton in the lining of her ears,  (Bella has pink and cream plaid, and Benny has blue and green) and a cute little wool felt heart to match.

bellabaapy2b

Bella’s sweet, sleepy face, and Benny’s bright eyed, happy little face were hand stitched with cotton floss, as was their little heart. They’re completely child friendly, and looking for that special someone to love. They’re just the right size at about 8 inches tall, so little arms can hold them tight, and easily go on many adventures.
Their light lavender scent will sooth and comfort too.

Bunson Haringbone is taller than his siblings but he’s very quiet and shy when they’re around. It wasn’t till we were speaking of the weather alone together one day that I realized how thoughtful and good natured Bunson is. He has many good, and creative ideas for adventures to be had AND! he’s a wonderful storyteller :0)

Bunson was made of a lovely 100% wool tweed (repurposed and gently cared for here on the Moor) composed of grey and tan strands interwoven in the classic herringbone style and very reminiscent of a hare’s fur!

Bunson stands a very respectible 9 inches tall from head to toe. He has 5 inch long ears.

bunson-harringbone3b

Bunson’s ear linings and paw pads are made of our super soft, cotton candy pink cashmere. It really is a nice contrast against the textured wool of Bunson’s coat.

Bunson is stuffed with our favorite Craggy Moor stuffing:
100% brand new wool batting, a touch of dry lavender, and just enough dry, inert lentils to make him feel slightly heavy and “real” in your hand.

bunson-harringbone4b

If you look closely you’ll notice the whimsical mismatched silver metal buttons at Bunson’s joints. They each have a different embossed design. Combined with his tweed coat, he has quite a nice,Old English way about him.

You’ll Bunson’s adorable hand stitched cotton yarn tail too. It adds even more texture variation and folk appeal to him.

Bunson’s eyes are czech glass beads, securely tied with 6 strand cotton floss;and his nose is hand stitched with coordinating pink cotton floss.

bunson-harringbone2b

Bunson is individually made, and would make a wonderful gift for someone special, or adopt him for your own collection of folk art treasures.

He’s securely made, but is not intended for rough play. Bunson has small parts and may not be suitable for children under the age of 3.

Bunson was made to be an heirloom quality friend so he’d made a lovely baby shower gift that could be saved for a special little one when he’s ready to meet Bunson.

Anne-Marie Dorset: A Sweet and Gentle Ewe

Posted in Uncategorized, hand made, sheep | No Comments »

anne-marie-dorsetb

I felt a tug on my sleeve one day, and heard a quiet voice inquiring the time it was and when I looked down I immediately knew I must ask her to stay for tea!

Meet Anne-Marie Dorset! She’s a sweetly soft new addition to our flock here on the Craggy Moor and she’s looking for that “just right” person to adopt her!

Anne-Marie is made of soft, repurposed (gently cleaned) cotton knit with a very nice lambswool texture to it! Anne-Marie is gentle and small, about 4 1/4 inches sitting, and about 7 inches from the top of her head to the tip of her hind hoof. She’s stuffed with our favorite stuffing: 100% brand new wool batting, a touch of dry lavender, and just enough dry, inert lentils to make her pleasantly heavy in your hand.
anne-marie-dorset5b

What we love about Anne-Marie is that she is wearing a cabled fisherman’s wool sweater (how sweet!) handknit with love right here on the Moor.
anne-marie-dorset-closeb
Anne-Marie Dorset has a gentle, kind, hand-embroidered cotton floss smile and open, friendly face.

Anne_Marie’s eyes are tiger’s eye glass beads secured with 6 strand cotton floss. The amber hues in her eyes bring out the lovely cream color of her little wool sweater.

Her ears are lined with soft pink cotton; and her tail is lined with just a touch of soft, repurposed pink cashmere.

All these little details make her such a unique treasure. She’s full of personality and sure to make a wonderful addition to your folk art collection (especially if your flock does not yet include a kind and gentle, sweater wearing sheep:0)

Anne Marie also has a very special pair of mother of pearl buttons on her lower leg joints that came from our vintage collection.
anne-marie-dorset4b
Anne-Marie Dorset would make a wonderful, unique gift for someone you love,or for yourself. She comes in her own cotton gift bag with a card signed and dated by the Artist. Anne-Marie Dorset is one of a kind, like all our handmade lamb collectibles here on the Craggy Moor.

anne-marie-dorset3bAnne-Marie is not for little children under the age of 3, and she is truly a collectible-securely made but not suitable for rough play.

Little Lucy MacHarelynn

lucy-macharelynnb

When Lucy was born, I immediately pictured her in the loving arms of one of my little ones, as they sleepily carried her up the stairs to their bedroom. She has the perfect “tuck me in and read me a story” appeal! Lucy has that lovely, timeless look I crave for all our best stuffed friends.

Lucy is 9 1/2 inches tall from head to toe. Her ears are 5 1/2 inches long. She’s made from a soft, cotton, nutmeg colored basket weave sweater (repurposed, gently cared for here on the Moor). the basket weave criss-crosses over itself very nicely, so there are no gaps.

She has soft, cotton candy pink cotton lining her ears and paws, giving her a sweet, gentle look.

We stuffed Lucy with the Craggy Moor’s signature stuffing:
100% brand new wool batting, a touch of dry lavender, and just enough dry, inert lentils to make her pleasingly “real” feeling as you hold her.

Lucy’s eyes are tiger’s eye glass beads in lovely amber shades that further bring out the brown fibers in her coat.
They have been securely sewn on with 6 strand cotton floss.

You’ll love the embossed wood buttons at Lucy’s joints. They give her that characteristic old-fashioned look that we love here on the Moor.
lucy-macharelynn3b
Lucy also has a hand sewn cotton yarn tail, and handstitched pink cotton nose that are sweet and finish her look just right.

lucy-macharelynn4b

lucy-macharelynn2b

Due to her small parts, Lucy might not be suitable for a child under the age of 3, use your own discretion when buying.

As I sit here typing Lucy is sitting beside me. Her slight, sweet lavender scent is floating up to me. She is sure to make you or your little one want to snuggle and hug over and over (I want to right now!) She’s just an all around loveable friend that will be cherished for years to come. When your little one gets older, tuck Lucy away for his/her children to enjoy.

I’m so happy with her, and I know you will be too!
Lucy is individually made and comes with a dated, signed card by the Artist. She would make a wonderful folk art gift for anyone you love, or a cherished addition to your own collection.

Corbin Suffolk- A New Lamb in the Pasture!

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

corbin-suffolkb

Hi! I’m Corbin Suffolk! I was born on the Craggy Moor! I love to play and run and I’d love to go live in your pasture today!

Corbin is gaelic for “a steep hill”- just the place I’d love to run and play!

I’m about 7 1/2 inches tall from my wooley ears to my wooley hooves.

I’m 100% natural! I am made of sweetly soft repurposed wool and cotton knit materials. My muzzle and lower legs are soft, black wool from a lovely repurposed ladies’ wool jacket. (All materials are gently cared for here on the Moor. We use dye free, hypoallergenic products to clean our materials.)

My sweater is hand knit here on the Moor with a soft, chunky white cotton. It has a cute cable knit on both sides.
corbinsuffolk4bI’m stuffed with brand new, super soft and smooth 100% wool batting and just enough dry, inert lentils to make me feel “real” (slightly heavy and very appealing in the hand) and a just a hint of lavender. I have that “days gone by” look that makes me such a special gift or addition to your folk art collection.

I have sweet and shiny czech glass eyes are double reinforced and secured with 6 strand cotton floss so I’m officially safe for everyone over the age of three, but use your own discretion when buying.
corbinsuffolk2b
If you take a peek just under the lower edge of my sweater you’ll see that my legs are jointed with cute, old fashioned four hole metal buttons that look so nice against my black and white.
corbinsuffolk3b
My ears and tail are lined with the black acetate that lined the jacket I was made from. Acetate is all natural! Wood pulp is treated with acid found in vinegar, which makes it smooth like satin. When the Craggy Moor found this out we were excited! Using jacket lining when its acetate is just one more responsible way to use a natural fiber.

I’m individually made, and I come with a dated card signed by the Artist so I’d make a wonderful gift for any collector of handmade folk art. You could also tuck me into a gift basket for anyone you love.

desmond5

Meet Desmond!

Have you ever seen a lamb with faire isle wool? They are a little hard to catch (that’s why you don’t see very many!) but we enticed him in with a plateful of shortbread and some mint tea :0)

Desmond was made from a beautiful imported fair isle wool sweater (repurposed, gently cared for here on the Moor)containing lovely jewel tone colors. His face and hooves are a soft white cotton-a nice contrast that gives Desmond a folk art feel. It looks like he jumped right out of the pages of a well loved story!
desmond4
Desmond is stuffed with our favorite stuffing: 100% brand new wool batting, a touch of dry lavender, and just enough dry, inert lentils to make him feel pleasingly heavy in the hand. Desmond’s eyes are antique colored czech glass beads.

Desmond has these amazing stamped metal buttons at each of his jointed legs that came from the sweater as well. They have a lovely flower and leaf pattern that further adds to his folk art appeal.

Desmond would make a great friend to anyone over the age of 6 (he has little parts so please use your discretion when buying for a child under the age of 6. He’s been securely made but is not intended for rough play.)

Desmond would also make a great addition to any collection of your favorite sheep or handmade treasures. He’d also make a charming and unique addition to a gift basket for someone you love.

elena-herdwick3

Meet Elena Herdwick!

Elena is new here on the Moor-a truly beautiful folk art lamb with sweet little knit cables throughout her soft, chocolate brown wool coat. We made Elena from a repurposed (gently cared for) cable knit wool vest. To contrast the dense cables, Elena’s head, ears, and hooves, as well as the lining of her tail are made of brand new buttercream colored muslin. Elena is truly a storybook beauty-whimsical and reminiscent of days gone by. If she’s the lamb for your collection, you will not be disappointed!

Elena has been firmly stuffed, reminiscent of those “days gone by” toys. We stuffed her with our favorite stuffing combination: 100% brand new wool batting, a touch of dry lavender, and just enough dry, inert lentils to maker her slightly heavy in the hand and have that “real” feel.

Elena has lovely tiger’s eye glass beads that have swirls of warm caramel color. Her nose has been hand stitched with cream colored cotton floss.

Elena also has charming wood buttons with a touch of wood grain decorating each jointed limb.

Sitting, Elena is 5 1/2 inches tall. Head to hoof, she’s a very pleasant 8 3/4 inches.
